Got this movie because it looked funny. Was delighted to see how good it was. The story takes place in the seventies, which serves more as a backdrop to give the characters odd outfits than anything. Still, the characters here are good to laugh along with. As seems typical of Japanese buddy films, there are a lot of characters and plenty of flashbacks, but they don't get annoying. The film moves along well. As for the plot, it just kind of jumps out at the end, with all the various strings finally coming together (a sick kid, aimless youth, and a very large bra). Throw in some solid old timers (the prolific and much-loved Takenaka!) and the film wins high marks. It only doesn't get five stars because, while it does easily shine above other films, it still suffers from that flashbacky-too-many-characters-late-plot-line-development-thing that seems to plague Japanese films. Or maybe I just need to relax and enjoy things more. Still, a great film. Watch it!
